At MCSC training we promote and coach the benefits of strength and conditioning training to improve the quality of life in our clients and community. We encourage a rounded approach to health and fitness which includes nutrition and lifestyle coaching.

Women’s Strength Club

Our strength classes are focused on teaching proper technique, learning how to choose appropriate weight and developing skill in the weight room.

The schedule is based around three main lifts; squat, bench, and deadlift. Each day focusing on particular muscle groups, and movement patterns, to develop.

The goal in class is to target muscle growth and improve upon skill.

In the women’s strength classes we keep exercises consistent from week to week, focusing on progressing movement efficiency and developing confidence in our bodies and our capabilities.  Strength training increases metabolic output, improves bone and joint health, helps promote dopamine, improves on our coordination and proprioception. Meaning that getting strong in the gym means being resilient outside of it.

There is no age limit or experience required to develop strength. Classes are open to everyone and are there to help develop from your starting point. All exercises have variations to accommodate movement restrictions or skill level.

Senior Strength Class

It is never to late to start strength training.

Strength training for seniors is one of the best ways to improve bone health. Increase muscle mass which has a direct impact on all aspects of health. As well as strengthen joints.

On stop of that you improve cognitive function, balance, and mental health.

Classes focus on full body strength workouts, all tailored to individual capabilities.

Are classes are not your typical exercise class. We work with dumbbells, cables, resistance bands and are reducing the amount of sitting. We take more risks in the gym to reduce the risks in your day to day life under the watchful eye of a trainer.

We focus on improving your quality of life, and making you more resilient to it. Practicing getting in and out of chairs, practicing the ability to get off the floor, being able to lift and play with grandchildren. Being able to continue enjoying the activities you have always loved.

There is no experience required, just the desire to be healthier and stronger.

Founder & Coach

Michelle Comber is the founder and coach of MCSC Training, she began her career as a personal trainer at Goodlife Fitness in 2014 and expanded to opening her own mobile training services in 2016.

Michelle is dedicated to continuing her education and making sure she is always updated on the current research for her clients. Over the years she has become certified in nutrition coaching, Olympic lifting, and powerlifting. In 2019 she extended her knowledge further at Algonquin College, and later graduated in 2021 for Registered Massage Therapy with honors. She currently works at Podium Sports Therapy + Wellness Clinic as an RMT while still offering her personal training services. By combining her two practices she hopes to help people move out of pain and injury faster and help them to become the strongest version of themselves.

With the expertise as an RMT and extensive training, Michelle has worked with clients of different ages and fitness abilities. Michelle’s passion is to educate her clients in nutrition and strength training, and help develop their personal performance plan to reach their goals and to further improve their quality of life. She doesn’t just preach, but she demonstrates the possibilities available to those who take the time to care for themselves and their health. This should be the first step in anyone’s health care plan, by being proactive in our approach. She is an outdoor enthusiast , trying to get out as often as possible into nature with her pup Max. One of her greatest accomplishments was climbing to Mount Everest base camp with her mother/client (turning 60 at the time) in 2019.

Michelle also competes in competitive powerlifting, becoming a provincial medalist in 2022. She will be attending Nationals 2024, and representing Canada at the NAPF Pan-American Bench Press Championships in Costa Rica October 2024.

Michelle’s passion for health and fitness, is demonstrated not just in her work, but in her lifestyle. She believes in living life to the fullest, and to do that we need to stay strong and healthy.

I have been with MCSC Training for about 4 years now.  I was coming up on the big 50 and wasn't liking myself anymore.  I have known michelle since she was about 6 years old, and found out she had become a personal trainer, and realized this was my chance to make a change.  i am not a gym person, so to train one on one with her was perfect for me.  my goals started off small.  i just wanted to be a bit more active and fit.  as time went on i started seeing small changes in my body and my self confidence grew a little more after each session. fast forward 2 years, COVID hit and like everyone else i had put on a few pounds.  Two virtual sessions a week with a couple weights and bands, I kept at it.  When traiing opened up again, my goals shifted a bit more.  I loved seeing little muscles develop in my arms and back.  "add more weight, i can do three more reps" i would say to her.  Well the extra covid pounds came off, plus 7 more!  last summer with her help and motivation i did the mud Girl run.  5km and 18 obsticles, i was so happy and proud of myself.  now 53 years old is just around the corner, and thanks to michelle, i look in mirror and love what i see!
